Jeffrey Lin’s Story

Jeffrey Lin was born with a cruel, hyperactive immune disease with no cure. Literally everything in the world is toxic to him. There are no safe foods to eat and he constantly struggles to breathe. According to research doctors, his eczema, skin disease, and allergies are the top 5 most severe cases they had ever seen. Even types of chemotherapy and other off-label medications were not enough to calm his immune system and reactivity. His condition is too severe to qualify for clinical trials.

Every moment the world tears him apart inside and out by intense itching, infections, and swelling. Even his tendons and ligaments react uncontrollably, causing his physiology to be continually twisted. For 10-years he couldn’t touch water. He’s affected by every weather change. The attacks never eased up over 27-years to allow him to sleep. He has experienced countless mental and emotional problems as well due to unrelenting stress, chronic sleep deprivation, malnutrition, PTSD, and medication side effects.

In 2017, he was one of the first severe eczema patients to be treated with Dupixent (Dupilumab) within days of FDA approval. Since then, his skin condition has improved dramatically. However, his highly reactive allergies and asthma are still life threatening so Jeffrey still requires the help of Cyclosporine, an immunosuppressant typically used for transplant patients.
